About
Pāmamae Āwhina: Trauma Aid Aotearoa is a charitable organisation that provides professional psychological services to individuals and communities. Our mahi covers those affected by large-scale disasters, following mass-casualty events, and for survivors of interpersonal violence. Our services include individual and group therapy sessions, provided in person or online. Our team of professionals are dedicated to helping people cope with the effects of trauma and offer support to help them move forward. We believe that everyone should have access to the help they need to recover from traumatic events and that our services can make a difference in the lives of those affected.

Trauma Aid Aotearoa provides support for survivors of trauma including interpersonal violence, natural and manmade disasters, and mass casualty events using EMDR therapy, an evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress and related symptoms. We also support the wider workforce by offering professional development and volunteer opportunities.
Our Mission
At Pāmamae Āwhina: Trauma Aid Aotearoa, our mission is to improve access to effective, evidence-based psychological support for individuals and communities affected by trauma. While we continue to respond to large-scale disasters and mass-casualty events, our work has expanded to include the delivery of structured group programs, the development of scalable trauma-informed services, and the training of professionals to better support their communities.
We are committed to making EMDR-informed care more accessible, practical, and responsive to need. Through community partnerships, workforce development, and innovative program delivery, we aim to ensure that more people can access timely support to cope with the effects of trauma and move forward with their lives.

Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where everyone has access to the psychological support they need to recover from traumatic experiences. We see a future where trauma-informed care is not limited by geography, cost, or workforce constraints, and where communities are equipped with the tools and knowledge to support recovery in meaningful and sustainable ways.
We believe that by combining direct service delivery, training, and scalable programs such as The Path Program, we can extend the reach of high-quality trauma care and make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities across Aotearoa and beyond.
