Our Services

At Trauma Aid Aotearoa, we believe that mental health care should be accessible, responsive, and grounded in evidence. We provide a range of services — from on-the-ground disaster response and community outreach to private and ACC-funded therapy, as well as workplace wellbeing programs. Our team of trained professionals delivers trauma-informed care that meets people where they are, whether that’s in a rural community, a workplace, or a therapy room.

Explore our services below to learn how we can support you, your whānau, or your organisation.

ACC Therapy Services

Approved providers of ACC-funded trauma therapy.

Trauma Aid offers therapy under the Sensitive Claims pathway for survivors of sexual abuse or assault. We provide support throughout the referral and approval process, and our trauma-informed clinicians deliver care that is culturally responsive, client-centred, and rooted in evidence-based practice. Therapy is fully funded for eligible clients.

Private Therapy Services

Therapy on your terms, tailored to your needs.

We offer self-funded therapy for individuals, couples, and families seeking support with trauma, stress, grief, or emotional wellbeing. Our network of experienced mental health professionals provides both in-person and online sessions, including EMDR, CBT, and other proven approaches. Whether you’re seeking short-term support or deeper healing, we offer care that’s compassionate, confidential, and accessible.

Volunteer Opportunities

Join us in making a difference, one community at a time.

Our work is powered by volunteers — mental health professionals, cultural advisors, logistics coordinators, and community advocates who generously give their time and expertise. Whether you’re helping deliver group therapy in a flood-affected town or supporting outreach behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a nationwide mission to bring compassionate care to those who need it most. We provide training, supervision, and a strong sense of purpose. If you’re ready to contribute your skills to meaningful mahi, get in touch.

Disaster Response & Community Services

Supporting communities where and when it matters most.

Trauma Aid partners with local organisations, marae, schools, and community groups to deliver free, accessible mental health support in the wake of natural disasters and collective trauma. Our team of trained professionals uses evidence-based group protocols to provide psychological first aid, reduce distress, and build community resilience — without requiring personal disclosure from participants. We go where we’re needed, reaching in to support those who might otherwise be missed.

Research & Innovation

Advancing trauma-informed care through evidence and action.

Trauma Aid is committed to strengthening the field of trauma recovery through research, evaluation, and innovation. We collaborate with academic partners, community leaders, and frontline practitioners to study what works, especially in rural, remote, and post-disaster contexts. Our projects explore group EMDR, culturally responsive practices, and new models of accessible care. Findings from our work inform both our service delivery and the broader sector. If you’re a researcher or student interested in collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

Workplace Wellbeing

Supporting mental health at work, before and after crisis.

We help organisations strengthen psychological wellbeing across their teams through proactive workshops, critical incident response, and tailored support for staff experiencing burnout or secondary trauma. From frontline workers to corporate teams, our services are designed to reduce stress, build resilience, and support recovery after high-impact events.
